Melanie Ceysson Blumenthal becomes official Bipolar UK Ambassador

  • Posted: 29 December 2025

We are delighted to welcome Melanie Ceysson Blumenthal as an official Bipolar UK ambassador, joining our mission to build a better world for everyone affected by bipolar.

Melanie and her husband, world-renowned chef Heston Blumenthal, have been committed to bringing conversations about bipolar into the mainstream since Heston’s diagnosis in 2023.

The appointment reflects the charity’s commitment to support everyone affected by bipolar – family, friends, colleagues and carers, as well as people who live with the condition.

Earlier this year, Melanie and Heston worked together on the powerful BBC documentary Heston: My Life with Bipolar which aired on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer

Living with someone who has bipolar has given Melanie a deep insight into the challenges faced not only by individuals living with the condition, but also by their families and loved ones.

Melanie played a pivotal role in getting Heston the help he needed during one of his most difficult moments, when a manic episode escalated into psychosis and led to him being sectioned. While in hospital, Heston was diagnosed with bipolar, which he descries as ‘the best thing that could have ever happened’.

As Heston himself said to Melanie: ‘At the end of the day, you saved my life.’

Since then, Melanie has become a passionate advocate for improving public understanding of bipolar and ending the stigma surrounding the condition.

We are delighted to welcome Melanie as a Bipolar UK Ambassador and look forward to working together to drive meaningful change for everyone affected by bipolar.
