‘Completing the challenge in my wheelchair felt amazing’

I had recently been diagnosed with bipolar, and I felt lost and didn’t really know where to turn. Having access to the resources on the website and the free Mood Tracker app, which I use every day, inspired me to raise money for Bipolar UK.

The Mood Scale is also really useful. I’ve sent it to my friends and family to help them understand what I go through.

In June 2025, I chose to do the Hull 10k in my wheelchair as a fundraising activity. It allowed me to do some exercise to help my mental health, while also doing something positive for a charity that had helped me.

It felt amazing completing my challenge

The day of the event was amazing, and everyone was so supportive of me doing it, especially with me doing the event in my wheelchair.

My family was there to support me which kept me motivated. The best part of the day was going over the finish line after pushing myself for one hour and 38 minutes!

I wanted others to find the same help as me

It meant a lot to me to fundraise for Bipolar UK.

Finding all the Bipolar UK resources really helped, and I wanted to make sure others in my situation would be able to access the same resources and information as me.

For anyone considering fundraising for Bipolar UK, I would tell them to go for it! The whole team from Bipolar UK has been amazing and super supportive, keeping in touch the whole time. I’ve decided to do the Hull 10k again for Bipolar UK next year (2026).
