Bipolar UK is proud to work with leading universities, researchers and academics from all over the world.
University College London (UCL)
Professor Tania Gergel holds an honorary professorship with the Division of Psychiatry at University College London, which is at the very cutting edge of psychiatric advances across mental health disciplines.
At UCL, the Bipolar UK research team supervises MSc students, and leads on coproduction and lived experience involvement across several projects
Cardiff University / National Centre for Mental Health (NCMH)
Professor Tania Gergel holds an honorary professorship with the School of Medicine at the National Centre for Mental Health (NCMH), building on the Bipolar UK research division’s long-standing collaboration with Cardiff University.
The team is currently leading on coproduction, lived experience involvement and innovation, and study management in the Brain and Genomics Hub. This is an Medical Research Council Platform-funded study aiming to examine biomarkers and clinical markers associated with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and bipolar.
Global Bipolar Cohort (GBC)
The Global Bipolar Cohort is a consortium of international experts in bipolar. The group comes together once a month to discuss ideas and share up-to-date research findings.
The research division at Bipolar UK has presented to the group and maintains strong connections with the international community to better identify important research gaps.
International Society for Bipolar Disorders (ISBD)
The ISBD is an international collaboration of researchers in bipolar to improve education, research, and clinical care to improve the lives of those with bipolar and affective disorders.
The research team at Bipolar UK is collaborating with the ISBD on different projects. This includes a leading role in the new ISBD bipolar suicide prevention task force where we’re looking to integrate understanding of lived experience of suicidality in bipolar into how we understand and try to reduce suicide in bipolar.
