Outside in October
Take on the Outside in October Challenge and dedicate 50 minutes outdoors every day while raising vital funds for Bipolar UK.
What is Outside in October?
Outside in October is a month-long wellbeing and fundraising challenge designed to help you build healthy habits as the seasons change.
The challenge is simple: aim to spend 50 minutes outside every day in October and set yourself a fundraising target of £100 by asking friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you.
Why 50 minutes?
It’s estimated that 1 in 50 people in the UK live with bipolar. That’s over 1 million people living with the condition and even more supporting them.
Whether it's a walk around your local park, a morning run, a bike ride, gardening, hiking, or just taking time to enjoy some fresh air, every minute spent outdoors counts.
By taking part, you'll be supporting your own wellbeing while fundraising to help Bipolar UK build a better world for everyone affected by bipolar.
4 reasons to take part
- Boost your wellbeing: Seasonal changes are known to affect many people living with bipolar. Making time to get outside during the autumn months, see daylight and stay active can have a really positive impact on wellbeing, whether you live with bipolar or not.
- Build healthy routines: Routine can play an important role in living well with bipolar. Regular patterns of sleep, exercise, social connection and hobbies can help support wellbeing and reduce the risk of becoming unwell. Taking part in the Outside in October challenge gives you a simple, achievable way to build daily routines.
- Make a difference: Every minute you spend outside and every pound you raise helps Bipolar UK continue providing support, information and hope to people affected by bipolar. You can ask friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you and help you stick to the challenge.
- Join a positive community: Throughout October you'll be part of a community of supporters all taking on the challenge together, sharing their progress, encouraging one another and making a collective difference for people affected by bipolar.
